RNLI to open station at Loch Ness
Thursday, 27 March 2008

A new inland based RNLI lifeboat station to be opened at Loch Ness, Scotland on Wednesday 2nd April 2008.

It is the first time in 13 years that the RNLI, a voluntary organisation, has opened a new lifeboat station equipped with an Atlantic 75 inshore lifeboat north of the border.

The crew will bring invaluable local knowledge and skills from their time on the current rescue boat, operated by the Maritime Coastguard Agency since 1995.

The volunteer crew from Drumnadrochit have already taken part in training at the RNLI's Lifeboat College in Poole, Dorset.

The RNLI is a registered charity in the UK and continues to rely on voluntary contributions and legacies for income.
